The County of Solano is currently recruiting for a Forensic Laboratory Director.
It is the mission of the District Attorney’s Office to seek and do justice by assisting law enforcement and other public agencies in the investigation of crimes, prosecuting only those crimes which can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, ensuring a fair trial for those accused of crime as well as for victims and witnesses of crimes, advocating to the public and to the Board of Supervisors necessary improvements to the criminal justice system, and educating the public by providing prompt and accurate information regarding the activities of the office and the administration of criminal justice. The Forensic Laboratory Director, through subordinate supervisory, professional, technical, and support staff, plans, organizes, and directs the overall operations of the District Attorney’s forensic laboratory; develops laboratory policies and procedures; ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation boards regulations; prepares and administers budget; and performs the more complex collection, preservation, and scientific analysis procedures.
The Director will plan, assign, review, and manage the overall operations and activities of the forensic laboratory, including short and long-range planning. The Director will also develop, implement, and ensure compliance with departmental programs, policies, and procedures; ensures compliance with external operating and quality assurance procedures; develops, administers, and monitors programmatic budget, grants, and criminal justice projects including allocating resources and approving expenditures. Serves as a resource and technical consultant to staff and private laboratories and may perform complex forensic casework.
